Tesla battery imbalance: what voltage differences tell you

Imbalance usually refers to unequal cell-group states that may appear as voltage differences. Voltage and capacity are different quantities. A screenshot of maximum and minimum values does not measure remaining capacity or prove that a battery needs replacement. Charge level, temperature, charging or load conditions and time since a state change matter. Without those conditions, two screenshots are separate observations rather than evidence of repair progress.

Record the date, vehicle state and units. Preserve battery-related faults and available temperatures. If reports already contain the data, check whether the same channels repeatedly show a deviation. Do not perform deliberate discharges or hazardous experiments for this lesson. Assessment rules depend on the battery and software. A universal millivolt threshold from a forum cannot replace documentation and examination of the actual battery.

A defensible conclusion says: “This spread was recorded under these conditions; further checks are needed to establish the cause.” “Definitely replace a module” is not justified by one image. Repair, balancing and replacement are different decisions. The cause, physical condition and ability to verify the outcome all matter. Learning to read data is not an instruction to open a high-voltage battery.
